Mo Salah (#11)
Mo Salah is a speedy, technically-skilled right forward and right winger. He is left-footed, so he tends to dribble, cut inside and shoot - and he is very effective. Last year, he set the Premier League goal record with 32 goals in the 38-game season. He is a part of Liverpool’s lethal counterattack that catches teams off guard with their blistering pace. He showed that he also has the strength to shrug off defenders in a very physical league, like he did in his second goal versus Leicester City on December 30th, 2017. He has shown some of his individual brilliance in goals versus Watford on March 17th, 2018 and in chipping the goalkeeper near the halfway line against Manchester City on January 14th, 2018. Watch these highlights on YouTube, then learn how to become a great goalscorer with great changes of direction and speedy dribbling skills by practicing the Body Fake on the TYS DVD, 20 Moves to Successful Soccer.
Virgil Van Djik (#4)
The world’s most expensive defender cost Liverpool $100 million USD, but he is worth every penny. Since Van Djik’s arrival, Liverpool has stopped leaking goals and has transformed its defense into a sturdy and solid backline. So far this season, Liverpool has 9 shutouts and only 6 goals allowed in 15 Premier League matches. Van Dijk is an excellent tackler and ball winner, and has a great aerial presence to win headers. He is an aerial threat on Liverpool corners and free kicks, with great tactical awareness and the ability to pass out of the back third. Watch him to learn how to become an elite defender.
